As a baby portrait photographer who photographs infants and children all the time, I’m constanty coming up with theories that make sense to me at the time, but tend to change and shift. Todays shifting theory was that 3 month olds where the hardest to shoot in the first year period. (I have to drop some of the other crazy sessions I’ve had with 1 year old “walkers” or the “I’m just not happy today” sessions from this theory.)
With 3 month olds, most are in between laying, sitting, and wanting to be held stage. As a photographer, I want to improve myself and my photographs all the time, but usually resort back to the poses that work with 3 month olds.
Never the less, I shifted my theory today with a adorable 3 month old girl whose parents are enjoying the ease of the “newborn to one” program. The shift was that clothing, props, and the mood of the child makes all the difference, and that even if we’re laying the baby down on her back again, it’s not that hard to achieve amazing photographs. And that’s what we’re after here at Fusion Photography.
